The Y provides financial assistance for Y membership and program fees to ensure that all people have equal access to Y programs and services regardless of ability to pay. We are able to provide this financial assistance through the generous donations of our members and friends of the Y through our annual campaign. The funds awarded to scholarship recipients are provided directly by YMCA donors. YMCA scholarship covers locally and internationally. No restrictions to countries when it is international but the local scholarships are quite restricted to residents of the countries hosting it.

Every program has its mode of operation so does YMCA. Financial assistance is available to individual based on their level of family income. Number of persons in their household and most importantly, the availability of funds. One good thing is the fact that the selection is unbiased. It is fair and plain. Financial assistance can be granted for one session of a program such as swim lessons, or for up to six month's membership with optional renewals. The YMCA of Greater Cleveland requires that individuals provide information regarding income, family size and necessary expenses so that it can provide financial assistance in a fair and consistent manner.

All records are kept confidential. The YMCA also requires that individuals reapply when requested to keep information on their application updated.
